I am a political scientist and author, and my research spans the far right, authoritarianism, and illiberal politics across Europe and the post-Soviet space – from the ideological genealogies of neo-Eurasianism and the electoral trajectories of European radical right-wing populist parties, to the mechanics of democratic backsliding and political warfare.
I hold a PhD from University College London (United Kingdom), and am currently a Senior Fellow at the Central European University in Vienna, Chair of the Centre for Democratic Integrity, and an Associated Researcher at the Research Centre for the History of Transformations at the University of Vienna.
I am also a member of the Editorial Board of Fascism: Journal of Comparative Fascist Studies and sit on the Board of Directors of the International Association for Comparative Fascist Studies (ComFas). I have previously held research positions at the Institute for Human Sciences (Austria), Swedish Institute of International Affairs (Sweden), Uppsala University (Sweden), the Legatum Institute (United Kingdom), and the New Europe College (Romania), among others.
